Startup Students workshop series

The collective offers three different series of free virtual workshops focused on entrepreneurship and working in the innovation economy. These sessions are an opportunity to hear from industry executives and subject matter experts, learn key concepts and tools and network with like-minded individuals. Workshops are open to students, alumni, faculty, and community members. 

Current Conestoga students can register on the Student Success Portal (SSP).

Entrepreneurship co-op programs

Students that are currently enrolled in a co-op degree or diploma program at Conestoga, are eligible to apply for entrepreneurship co-op. These programs offer the opportunity to dedicate your work term to the development of a new business. 

Venture co-op

This is a 15-week unpaid work term. Students work one-on-one with a venture coach to develop a new business venture. In this program, students will research the market, develop a minimum viable product and a go-to-market plan as well as learn how to pitch. There are opportunities to network with other entrepreneurs and business owners as well as subject matter experts and industry mentors.

Gig co-op

Students with aspirations to be a full or part-time professional freelancer can apply for this 15-week unpaid work term. Participants work one-on-one with a gig coach to develop the foundation for a sustainable freelance business.  In this program, students will determine their positioning in the market, define their customer, develop a sales and marketing plan, set up the mechanics of their company and learn how to pitch their business to real clients for real contracts. There are opportunities to network with other freelance entrepreneurs and business owners as well as subject matter experts and industry mentors.

Freelancing Micro-credential

Full-time consultant, part-time freelancer or member of the side hustle army, the future of work includes a legion of professional gig workers. Inspired by the Conestoga Gig Lab, Canada's first and only business incubator for freelance entrepreneurs, this micro-credential will help you to set up and optimize your freelance business. This micro-credential is comprised of three courses in strategic foundations, operational frameworks, and demand generation, which include concept instruction as well as weekly one-on-one coaching with an experienced gig coach.
