CNERG: Database for sustainability projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions
Michael Kukhta, P.Eng., School of Business
Many municipalities in Ontario are actively pursuing the goal of enhancing sustainability in their cities and towns. While there is a wealth of ideas and opportunities for reducing emissions, the sheer volume of information can be overwhelming, making it challenging to start implementing these initiatives. To address this issue, the research team collaborated with a panel of three residents from Harrington, a small village in Ontario.
Together, the team created a comprehensive database that provides essential information on securing funding and approvals for sustainability projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating environmental impacts. This database includes details on where, when, how, and from whom to obtain the necessary support for such projects. Creating this database provides future opportunities to expand on the database and builds community knowledge of overcoming barriers to becoming a sustainable community.
