
Anthony Bauer, PhD
Research lead, Biotechnology and Biosciences
In his role, Anthony aligns the evolving needs of industry partners with the research lab’s extensive capabilities and technical expertise, to deliver innovative research solutions.
Anthony holds a B.Sc. from University of Guelph and an M.Sc. and PhD in biological science from the University of Waterloo.
During his doctoral degree, Anthony developed methodology and SOPs for Environment and Climate Change Canada for the extraction and fractionation of oil sands tailings constituents for chemical forensics and toxicological evaluation. His work also included the bioremediation of oil sands contaminants from tailings environments.
Previously, Anthony held a position as a research scientist at a life sciences startup in Kitchener where he gained valuable experience with the incubator ecosystem in the region.
Most notably, Anthony was the research manager for a cannabis cultivation facility in Kitchener where he conducted innovative research projects including; optimizing aeroponics growth techniques, maximizing plant yield, and improving plant health strategies.
Anthony collaborated with agricultural suppliers, cosmetics companies, and academic institutions to explore new agricultural practices and engage in product development.
