David Brown
Corporate medical director, CIBC
A physician and graduate of The Queen’s University of Belfast, David completed his postgraduate training and education in the UK prior to his move to Canada in 1981. As a partner in the Winnipeg Clinic, he first encountered and subsequently developed a passion for the field of occupational medicine. He became a Fellow of Canadian Board of Occupational Medicine.
Following his move to Toronto he became the medical director of CIBC and has held this position for 37 years. His focus has been on health promotion and corporate health risk management. Through this lens he has developed expertise in the areas of the workplace environment, performance, business continuity, benefits, inclusion, disability management, accommodation and communication.
External to CIBC, David has held senior executive positions in several occupational medicine associations. He continues to serve on two technical committees of the Canadian Standards Association that developed firstly, the Canadian Standard for the Psychologically Safe Workplace and secondly the Canadian Standard for Disability Management Systems.
