Kat Webster is a researcher at the Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness, & Performance.
 
She specializes in human performance optimization, applying biomechanical tools to improve healthy movement mechanics and injury prevention. Her expertise includes collection and analysis of joint kinematics, force, muscle activity, and time series data sets.
 
She has a diverse research background, with experience in sport, clinical, and occupational biomechanics. Prior to joining the CISWP, Kat was a sport scientist, enhancing athlete performance through data driven feedback and tracking. Additionally, she was a research assistant, performing data analysis and collection of clinical and biomechanical measures to understand the progression of knee osteoarthritis. Her graduate research focused on shoulder and sport biomechanics, evaluating the utility of a swim bench as a freestyle swimming emulator. She is passionate about upper extremity biomechanics and female representation in research.
 
Kat holds an M.Sc. in kinesiology, focused in biomechanics, from the University of Waterloo and a B.Sc. honours kinesiology from McMaster University.
