Kevin Flynn
Former Ontario Minister of Labour
A career spanning 33 consecutive years in elected public office gives Ontario’s former Minister of Labour a unique perspective on workplace health and safety both from a physical and a psychological perspective. As minister, Kevin championed major advancements in health and safety legislation. Mandatory falls from heights training, presumptive legislation for first responders in Bill 163, the game changing Mines Safety Review and fair wages and healthy working conditions for Ontario’s most vulnerable workers were all achieved under his watch. Today he advises organizations and business on productive interaction with governments.
Kevin chaired Ontario’s Select Committee on Mental Health and Addictions and produced the watershed report which finally bought mental health to the forefront of the agenda. His education with an MBA combined with an entrepreneurial nature and a strong social conscience allows Kevin to view the world or work through a legislative, moral imperative, productivity, and performance lens. Kevin knows Ontario citizens expect excellence from their government and business. He feels the Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness and Performance at Conestoga places Ontario in a position to further its strong tradition as a world leader in workplace health and safety while advancing innovation in business.
