Kristin Yates is a researcher specializing in human health and biomechanics, focusing on assessing workplace conditions and developing interventions to reduce musculoskeletal discomfort. Kristin brings a unique perspective to her research from her professional background of working full-time as a chef and part-time as a personal trainer. In a recent survey study, she explored the prevalence of musculoskeletal discomfort among Canadian food service employees, and her lab-based research investigated the potential of adjustable workstation heights.
Kristin has a multidisciplinary background, drawing from her studies in biomechanics and kinesiology, as well as her professional experience in the culinary industry. Before joining the CISWP she also contributed to projects such as developing educational materials and serving as a teaching assistant. She is passionate about translating research findings into real-world applications that improve workplace safety, performance, and worker well-being.
Kristin holds an M.Sc. in human health and nutritional sciences from the University of Guelph, with a focus on biomechanics, as well as an honours bachelor of applied science in kinesiology from the University of Guelph-Humber.
