Lia Tennant

Data analyst

Lia Tennant has a background in ergonomics and biomechanics. Her research pursuits have spanned projects investigating potential mechanisms linking occupational exposures to musculoskeletal disorders like knee osteoarthritis and low back pain, how footwear affects kneeling and slip biomechanics, comparisons of clinical and biomechanical measures of spine stiffness, and shock attenuation in the lumbar spine during 2-foot landings.

She is passionate about supporting healthy and sustainable work and performance through impactful, inclusive research. Prior to joining the CISWP, Lia was a lab manager at the University of Saskatchewan Ergonomics Lab and a graduate educational developer at the University of Waterloo. 

Lia completed a B.Sc. in kinesiology (University of Waterloo), an M.Sc. in kinesiology with a focus on biomechanics (University of Waterloo) and is currently pursuing a PhD in kinesiology with a focus on lumbar spine impact biomechanics and low back pain, also at the University of Waterloo.
