Researcher
Sanjay Veerasammy is a researcher at the Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness & Performance.
His previous research experience saw him utilize qualitative and quantitative research methods to investigate and develop solutions for a range of cognitive and physical ergonomics issues. His graduate thesis investigated the role of the intensity of physical efforts on muscle fatigue and recovery.
Sanjay applied his expertise to his role as a disability case manager, where he sought a better understanding of the lived experiences of persons with disabilities. He has supported individuals with short- and long- term disabilities by implementing interventions to facilitate proper treatment, recovery, and a timely and appropriate return to work.
Sanjay's experiences have allowed him to appreciate the proactive and reactive natures of workplace health, safety, and ergonomics. He brings an empathetic approach, as he helps us understand how we can prevent workers from getting hurt, as well as how we can help hurt workers continue to live productive lives.
