Steven Pretty
Researcher
Steven Pretty is a researcher at the Canadian Institute for Safety, Wellness & Performance. He has expertise in fall risk assessments, impact biomechanics and soft tissue characterization.
His previous research utilized a combination of fall simulations, cadaveric testing and computational modelling to elucidate the roles of anthropometrics and body composition on hip fracture risk and hip protector efficacy during lateral falls.
Steven is passionate about understanding and enhancing the mechanical interactions between our bodies and engineered devices/environments.
Specifically, he aims to leverage state-of-the-art anthropometric technologies and biomechanical approaches to support the inclusive design of equipment, tools and PPE that maximize comfort and performance across diverse populations.
Steven holds an M.Sc. and a B.Sc. in kinesiology, both from the University of Waterloo. He is completing his PhD in kinesiology at the University of Waterloo.
