Tell your story
What stories have been told about you or your communities? Who is allowed to tell stories? What stories do you wish were told about you? Who do you wish could hear those stories?
We want to hear your stories
Creative Writing and Community at Conestoga is a CCEWI-led workshop series for Conestoga students on the value of storytelling and life writing in terms of both reflection and connection.
The workshops that ran in the fall of 2023 sparked student writing by asking important questions: What changes have you faced in the last three years? In what ways have those changes been isolating? How can telling stories about our changing lives create community in the face of isolation?
Through composition instruction and guided multimedia storytelling, student participants created autobiographical narratives --in the form of digital shorts-- about their experiences of change.

Digital storytelling
Digital shorts
As the final product of our creative writing workshops that took place in fall 2023, students produced creative digital shorts that reflect their experiences of change. Students learned about life writing and how the integration of audio and visual elements can contribute to the richness of their stories. These videos foreground student voices in our communities as they explore how to continue to navigate opportunities, disruptions, and transformation in community.
